In April’s show,Reality is Negotiable,, members Ileen Kaplan and David Watkins Jr continue their individual but kindred artistic exploration of abstraction, color, light, and landscape. The show features Kaplan’s colorful nature inspired abstract paintings and Watkins’ floral, abstract, and landscape images.

The show will run April 4-28, 2024. There will be an opening reception Friday, April 5, 5–8pm.

Look Club

Katrina Morse, Patty Brown, and Carol Spence will be hosting Look Club at the gallery every second Sunday, 2–3 to look at the artwork on display. Learn about different types of artwork and how to talk about art. What do you see? How does it resonate with you? The next Look Club will be held on Sunday, May 11, 2–3.

I can’t remember a time when I was not sketching or drawing. Creating something on a blank piece of paper was always irresistible to me while growing up… Nature is what inspires me. A drive through the country side or a walk in the woods will fill my head with ideas for paintings. Shapes, textures and light fascinate me. Nature is an endless source of inspiration, and through my work I hope to convey my love for nature to others.

Nancy Ridenour

Nancy will show this photograph at the Made in New York 2024 show at the Schweinfurth Art Center from March 23 through April 27, 2024. There will be an opening reception on March 23 from 2–5.

Hsiao-Pei Yang

Hsiao-Pei will have solo art exhibition, Corner of the Sky: Inner Peace Finding During Turbulent Times at Temple Beth-El. The exhibition will be open on April 7 and end on August 4.

Barbara Behrman

Barbara will be showing a collection of her paintings and fabric art at Karma Salon. Her work will be on display from March 4 through the end of May.

Margy Nelson is showing Blueprint For a Butterfly at the Weird and Wonderful show in Rochester.

Carol Spence

Carol will be displaying mixed media work at the RASA Spa in Ithaca from November 2023 through March 2024.

Daniel McPheeters

Frank Robinson from Kendal Ithaca writes:

“The new exhibition in our Kendal Gallery will be the work of Daniel McPheeters. Dan has exhibited often in Ithaca and the region, including at Kendal; our show, in various media, will give an idea of his remarkably varied achievement over the years.

“Three of his pieces, now hanging in the office corridor and the living room, are a highly imaginative combination of photography and printmaking, juxtaposing heavenly constellations with serene, idyllic landscapes here on Earth.

“Please join Dan and hear his comments on his work at the opening reception, with the usual refreshments, on Monday, February 5, at 4:00 in Conference Room A and the Gallery itself. The exhibition will be on view from February 1 through April 30.”
